Google - Yahoo! Deals
Yahoo on Wednesday sent a letter to its shareholders justifying its deal with Google, saying it will enhance the company's profitability and provide more shareholder value than the offer put forth by Microsoft to invest in Yahoo's search business.
The deal with Google will generate US$250 million to $450 million in incremental operating cash flow for Yahoo in the first year, Yahoo Chairman Roy Bostock and CEO Jerry Yang wrote in the joint letter.
LATEST GOOGLE - YAHOO! MONTHLY REPORT:
Together, Google, with a 61.8% share and Yahoo, with 20.6%, own 82.4% of the U.S. search market, according to comScore's latest monthly report.
Microsoft offered to acquire Yahoo in February for $44.6 billion. When Yahoo held out for more than the software giant was willing to pay, Microsoft withdrew an increased bid of $47.5 billion in early May and proposed buying Yahoo's search business for $9 billion a month later.
Shares of the world's largest software maker are down 22 percent this year, sales of Windows software are slowing, and an attempt to buy Yahoo! Inc. flopped. And Google Inc. is widening its lead over Microsoft in Internet searches, leaving Ballmer with a case of ``chronic Google envy,'' according to Jane Snorek, an analyst at Minneapolis-based First American Funds.

Latest SEO GOOGLE News! Google Algorithm Update
Well, you probably already know about the new Google update. While the last several updates don’t have a distinctive name, this past update which came roaring in during March and April wreaking havoc to all SEO’s deserves a name like a great storm- this one named “Dewey” after a code word used in Matt Cutt’s blog. Following is some of the information I have been able to collect on Dewey, hopefully giving SEO’s information that can be useful for their clients and websites.
Dewey Wreaks Havoc
Older Sites in General Suddenly Disappear: One of the first alarm bells that went off was that many of the quality old sites that we love and nurture suddenly disappeared from the top ranking positions to pages in the tens or twenties of the index
Less Relevancy: Many web surfers and SEO’s noticed that searches were not nearly as relevant as before.
New Sites Were Loading Extremely Slow
Problems with Cache Data
Many SEO’s realized that cache data was not showing up accurately even though index reports were showing otherwise.

Latest GOOGLE News: Google Sells SEO!
source : googleblog
Since we closed the acquisition of DoubleClick on March 11, we’ve been immersed in integration planning for each of our products and business units. Recently we completed this process for the DoubleClick Performics businesses, and have decided to split them into two separately-run business units: Affiliate Marketing and Search Marketing.
Tom Phillips, Director, DoubleClick Integration at Google wrote on the Google Blog:
"It’s clear to us that we do not want to be in the search engine marketing business. Maintaining objectivity in both search and advertising is paramount to Google’s mission and core to the trust we ask from our users. For this reason, we plan to sell the Performics search marketing business to a third party. We believe this will allow us to maintain objectivity and the search marketing business to continue to grow and innovate and serve its customers. While we have not yet identified a buyer, we’ve received preliminary interest from a number of our current partners. Search Marketing will continue to run as a separate entity until the division is sold."

Conclusion: Thanx Google! this is great by which there won't be any more conflicts :)

Google vs SEO!
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., (March 11, 2008) – Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced today that it has completed its acquisition of DoubleClick, a company that offers online ad serving and management technology to advertisers, web publishers and ad agencies.
source: google press center
There is a reason to do this bcoz of the heavy manipulation in Search Engines by many SEO's which is causing the headache and i think this might be the reason for Google to act upon.
Conclusion: Ranking would be much tougher than ever before so SEO guys need to watch out
Google owns SEO ??? Paid Rules?
Google owns DoubleClick. In doing so, the company has done something else that many people would have never believed possible. Become an SEO. That's right -- Google's in the SEO business now, selling services through DoubleClick's Performics to people who want to rank well on -- um -- Google
Performics is a long-time leader in the SEO and search marketing space. It provides paid search services (getting you listed on search engines like Google itself through ads), as well as "natural search" or search engine optimization work:
While Google doesn't have relationships with any SEOs...Now it does -- it owns an SEO. And therein lies the problem. Even if Performics is kept completely separate from the Google search team, there's the impression that Performics might have some special "in" with Google's non-paid search results.
GOOGLE's policies
DON’T BE EVIL
Don’t be evil. We believe strongly that in the long term, we will be better served—as shareholders and in all other ways—by a company that does good things for the world even if we forgo some short term gains. This is an important aspect of our culture and is broadly shared within the company.
Google users trust our systems to help them with important decisions: medical, financial and many others. Our search results are the best we know how to produce. They are unbiased and objective, and we do not accept payment for them or for inclusion or more frequent updating.
We will do our best to provide the most relevant and useful search results possible, independent of financial incentives. Our search results will be objective and we will not accept payment for inclusion or ranking in them.
Objectivity. We believe it is very important that the results users get from Google are produced with only their interests in mind. We do not accept money for search result ranking or inclusion. We do accept fees for advertising, but it does not influence how we generate our search results. The advertising is clearly marked and separated. This is similar to a newspaper, where the articles are independent of the advertising. Some of our competitors charge web sites for inclusion in their indices or for more frequent updating of pages. Inclusion and frequent updating in our index are open to all sites free of charge. We apply these principles to each of our products and services. We believe it is important for users to have access to the best available information and research, not just the information that someone pays for them to see.Google official stance?Ans: We intend to spend the next several months assessing all of DoubleClick's products and services including those offered by Performics. In the near term, we intend to operate Performics as a stand-alone business unit consistent with its past practices. Upon the completion of our integration planning with respect to Performics, we will be in a better position to announce our future plans for this business. Conclusion:A purchase initially worth more than $3 billion, and Google still hasn't assessed that Performics poses such a huge conflict to own? Disappointing. Google should have announced a spin-off yesterday. I'd hope they'll rapidly move forward with doing that.
My conclusion (SEO pravish): I agree to fact of Danny Sullivan- this would create a great conflict - A major impact and all the rules would be broken.
Will the paid inclusions would ruin Organic Rankings? Need to see in the coming days
SEO's be ready for SURVIVAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Google Goolag Tool Scanner!
the Cult of the Dead Cow hacker group released an open-source Web auditing tool that aims to let owners check their Web sites for security vulnerabilities. Dubbed the Goolag Scanner, the technology is based on google hacking a form of vulnerability research developed by Johnny I Hack Stuff. Goolag Scanner is a standalone Windows GUI-based application.
Goolag Scanner provides one more tool for Web-site owners to patch up their online properties.
The Sophos 2008 Security Threat Report published in January revealed just how prevalent the danger is.
Sophos detects a newly infected Web page every 14 seconds. Eighty-three percent of those pages belong to companies and individuals who are unaware that their sites have been hacked.
"We've seen some pretty scary holes through random tests with the scanner in North America, Europe and the Middle East," Ruffin said. "If I were a government, a large corporation, or anyone with a large web site, I'd be downloading this beast and aiming it at my site yesterday. The vulnerabilities are that serious."

Yahoo going for Google alliance?
Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O) would consider a business alliance with Google Inc (GOOG.O) as one way to rebuff a $44.6 billion takeover proposal by Microsoft, a source familiar with Yahoo's strategy said on Sunday.
In a memo to Yahoo employees on Friday, which was obtained by Reuters on Sunday, Yahoo leaders wrote: "We want to emphasize that absolutely no decisions have been made -- and, despite what some people have tried to suggest, there's certainly no integration process underway."
Microsoft executives cited industry data showing Google has a 75 percent share of worldwide Web search revenue. Collectively, Yahoo and Microsoft attract around 20 percent of Web searches, Internet measurement firms show.
"Today, Google is the dominant search engine and advertising company on the Web," Smith said in replying to Google on Sunday. "Google has amassed about 75 percent of paid search revenues worldwide and its share continues to grow."

Larry Page to Marry Lucy Southworth: Larry Page CEO!
Latest Updates: Larry Page is gona take on as the CEO of the Company where he will be replacing Eric Schmidt which will be effective from April4. . Page, who served as Google’s first CEO from 1998 to 2001, will take over Google’s day-to-day operations, while Schmidt will assume the role of executive chairman of Google.
On a lighter note, Schmidt tweeted, “Day-to-day adult supervision no longer needed!” :)
Lawrence "Larry" Page was born in U.S. on 26th March, 1973 in a Jewish family. His parents were both computer science professors at Michigan State University. No wonder living amongst these intelligent persons, his love for computers bloomed at the tender age of just 6 years. By the age of 12 years, he had already decided that one day he is going to start his own company.
Page is a computer scientist, software developer and an entrepreneur. He graduated from East Lansing High School in 1991. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from the University of Michigan with honors. He built an inkjet printer out of Lego bricks during that time. He later got his Masters degree in computer science from Stanford University.
After doing his Masters, he went to Stanford University and enrolled himself for Ph.D. in computer science. There he met Sergey Brin and together they started working on a project called "The Anatomy of a Large-scale Hyper textual Web Search Engine". Their challenge was to crawl the web efficiently and provide more relevant results than the search engines that were available at that time. Their new-founded search engine relied on a new kind of technology that analyzed the relevance of the back links that connected one web page to another. In August 1996, the initial version of Google was made available, and it still can be found on the Stanford University Web site.
In 1998, Brin and Page together founded Google, Inc. Initially they both started with their own funds, and that of their friends and family. In the earlier years, Google allowed no advertising in their search engine results. But, in 2000 when unobtrusive text advertisements were introduced by placing them along side search results; it became profitable. On 19th August 2004, Google was made a Public enterprise. It also emerged on the NASDAQ stock exchange as GOOG. With the site growing so quickly, he never got the chance to finish his Ph.D.
Page ran Google as co-president along with Brin for a long time. He and Brin managed the company up until it reached more than 200 employees. Then in year 2001, they hired Dr. Eric Schmidt as Chairman and CEO of Google and Larry Page became president of products. On 4th April, 2011, Page will officially become the chief executive officer of Google; while Schmidt will step down to become executive chairman.
In 2002, Larry was named as a World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow. In 2003, both Brin and Page received an honorary MBA from IE Business School. In 2004, they both were honored with the Marconi Prize (the highest award in engineering). In the same year Page was chosen as a trustee for the board of X PRIZE, as well as a member of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the University of Michigan, College of Engineering. Both Page and Brin were named as "Persons of the Week" by ABC World News Tonight, in 2004. He was also named as one of Time Magazine's top 25 most influential people on the web in year 2008. In year 2009, Page received an honorary doctorate from the University of Michigan. He also ranked 26th on the Forbes list of the world’s billionaires and as the 11th richest person in America, in the same year.

Here's how Google would interpret meta tags of this sample HTML page:
description content : utilized by Google, can be shown in our search results
revisit-after content=14 days not utilized by Google or other major search engines
verify-v1 content optional, for Google webmaster tools
While the use of a description meta tag is optional and will have no effect on your rankings, a good description can result in a better snippet, which in turn can help to improve the quality and quantity of visitors from our search results.

1) BACKLINKS is it worth?
Now that people are using the back link method to cheat the search
engines into thinking they are popular Google see sites with a lot of random backlinks as seo spammers.
# To succeed in this business all these years by being on the edge of what to do not following the crowd.
# You do not want backlinks to your site from anything but sites in your niche.
# Add 5 to 10 niche theme related links from average sites of PR 3 to 6 and higher if you can make deal with the owner of the sites
# But only a few sites just to let Google know your site is social within your own theme.
# The fact you need a few theme sites linked back to yours is the topic of the next subject.
Suggestions : Chose wisely, few high PR or good pr 3 sites related to ur category and avoid backlink spam. Google hates spam. Get backlinks from niche directories.
